Reflection (5/10/10): In today's lesson, Mr Andrew showed us several films done by girls in our class and other classes. We watched a section of different genres from comedy to crime and there was even a movie with some horror elements. After watching all the films, we all gave some feedback on some of the pros and cons of all the films we watched. To be honest, I thought our film was the best out of all of them. This is because our audio could be clearly heard and the editing and music were done really well. I am very happy to say that all the endless hours and hard work really did pay off!
Homework - Reflect on two films and compare them to our film. Then, look at several movie websites and see the official poster for that movie.
Brittany’s Film
Pros:
-The actors played their characters very well
-The lighting/framing was suitable for every shot
-The editing overall was very well done (several short shots told the story)
-The story was easy to understand and the visual language helped show the story as well
-Props and settings were well chosen and suited the scenes they were in
Cons:
-Some of the audio was too soft to hear
-There were parts of the movie were the music did not suit what was happening
-Several shots could have been done better or at a different angle
-There were areas where the film could have been tidied up (cleaner cuts or unnecessary scenes)
-I did not understand why the step mother suddenly died (could have made it clearer)
Music: 3/5
Rebbecca's Film
Pros:
-The storyline was quite interesting
-Props and settings were well chosen and suited the scenes they were in
-The main actress portrayed her character brilliantly
Cons:
-The film was too long (started to lose interest)
-Several shots were way too long (could have been cut down)
-The audio was too soft to hear
-The editing of the film could have been done better (different angles and short clips)
-The music did not suit the film at times
Music: 2/5
Our Film
Pros:
-The editing was done brilliantly (THANK YOU ELANA!) and noticeably showed the story
-The audio could be clearly heard in every scene
-The framing/lighting suited each scene
-Music was very well done and suited each scene
-A wide range of shots were used (panning, tilted upwards, angled to the left, etc.)
- Props and settings were well chosen and suited the scenes they were in
Cons:
-Some scenes could have been filmed better or at different angles
-Sections of the editing could have been done better (cutting from scene to scene)
