The Aviator (Version 2)

The scene from The Aviator was a mixture between several genres. It had action, adventure, drama but the main genre was biopic.

The editing of the movie really gave the audience a feel as if they were there. The camera shots were all around the plane and inside the cockpit as well which gave the audience a complete view of the plane. The sound was that of something you would find in an action and drama film. It made the audience sit on the edge of their seat as they watch the young man fly the plane. The scene from The Aviator was a scene filled with action, drama and at the end, a bit of humor. In the scene, the lighting was always bright since it was based outside and as mentioned before, the camera shots were all around the plane as well as inside which gave the person a feel for what the pilot was doing. The camera shots were all types of shots as well. It had close ups, long range, medium range, shots tinted upwards and a couple of shots that were birds eye. The editing in this movie was a mixture between fast and slow. There were some scenes where the editing was really fast and then there were times were the editing slowed down and was not as fast as it had been before. However, the editing was all in time with the music.

Overall, the scene watched from The Aviator was a well constructed scene.

The Aviator looks like it would be a great movie filled with action, drama and a bit of humour but in saying this, the scene watched was very well constructed and hopefully the rest of the movie is as well constructed.

Star Wars Episode 4 trailer vs Star Wars Episode 3 trailer

The first trailer for Star Wars Episode IV bored me. The pace of the editing was quite slow and the voice over put me off quite a lot. The editing was slow and the shots did not really create tension or pull me in. It had the one piece of music and when it needed to be gripping it was the same so I found it hard to get into. The second trailer for Star Wars Episode III made me feel like I really wanted to go watch the movie. It had tension, adventure and the editing was done on a beat while the first trailer was just bits of film cut to fit the music (and some scenes did not fit the music to begin with). The music was gripping when it needed to be and subduable when it needed to be. The trailer only used the voices of the actors and had no voice over which made me more interested. The pace was very fast when compared to the first movie and the fast pace of the editing was another thing that made me wanted to see the movie. Overall the second trailer was edited better then the first trailer and made me want to see the movie (second trailer) more then it did the first time.

My Movie Recipe

Ingredients
One normal school
Group of ‘friends’
- bitchy girl
- a cheerleader
- a wannabe
- very shy girl
Fat, old, bald, sour teacher
Four torches
One axe
Plastic bag

Simple Method:
Take a normal high school with a bunch of ‘friends’ and have them dare each other to spend the night over at the school. That night, have them all in the classroom and have the cheerleader need to go to the restroom. Have her washes her hands when someone comes up behind her and kills her with an axe. Have the wannabe go check on the cheerleader and discover her body. Have the wannabe run towards the classroom but the person walks out in front of her and kills her with an axe. Have the bitchy girl go see what’s taking them so long. The shy girl walks out in front and tells her she couldn’t find them. Have the bitchy girl dis the wannabe and cheerleader. When her back is turned have the shy girl say something creepy and bitchy turns around. The shy girl is holding a blood stained axe and kills the bitchy one. Have the shy girl cut the girls up into tiny pieces and put them in the bag. The shy girl destroys the evidence, goes home and feds her family the meat from the girls for dinner.

Advanced Method:
Take a normal high school with all the stereotypes and have a group of ‘friends’ sitting in class waiting for the bell to ring. Have the teacher marking exams with a sour look on his face. The bitchy girl turns around and talks to her ‘friends’. After a while, they talk about what scares them, the cheerleader and wannabe claim that nothing scares them but the shy girl doesn’t say anything. The bitchy girl decides to have some fun and dares that all of them have to spend the night at school. They all agree while the shy girl is pressured into it. When they arrive at the school in the night, have tree branches blowing wildly in the wind and no light at all. The bitchy girl goes (using a torch) in first and says that the others are all scared. The others all go in after her and follow her around until they decided to sleep in their form room. Have the cheerleader need to go to the bedroom and she goes by herself. The cheerleader washes her hand and someone comes up behind and beats her to death with a axe. The others think the cheerleader is taking to long so bitchy tells wannabe to go get her. Wannabe goes to the bathroom and sees the bloody corpse of the cheerleader. She uans back to the form room but on the way someone steps in front of her. The person has a axe and the wannabe screams in fear. The person runs towards the wannabe and slices her in half with the axe. Have the bitchy girl go see what the scream was. Then have the shy girl appear in front of her and scare her. The shy girl tells the bitchy girl that she couldn’t find the other two. Have the bitchy girl turn her back and say that the other two chickened out. The shy girl then says ‘that’s not exactly what happened’. The bitchy girl turns around confused and sees the shy girl standing there with an axe. The shy girl kills the bitchy one and then chops her and the other girls into little pieces. Have her put the pieces in a bag and she cleans the axe, clearing it of any evidence. Have the shy girl go home, tell her family she brought meat for dinner and have the girl cook the meat, and have her and her family eat it.

My Final Piece

During this term I have been working on a website for Broken Arrow and a poster for the movie as well. Mr Powell showed us how to use iWeb and showed us demonstrations on how to use/create things on iWeb. I spent quite a bit of time working on both my website as well as the poster and learnt many new skills during this unit of work.

Since I had never used iWeb, I had to spend quite a lot of time experimenting with the program trying to figure everything out. I managed to teach myself new things and Mr Powell taught us techniques we could use as well.
In my website I have several sections.
Home Page: Poster of Broken Arrow, release date and link to ‘Broken Arrow’ (What the movie is about)

Broken Arrow: A picture from the movie and a short paragraph about what the movie is about

Cast and Crew: Pictures of the two main characters and a link to their websites
List of characters and who plays them
A list of the Crew (multicoloured – important red/blue – unimportant)

Air Force Gallery: A group of pictures from the movie

Trailer: The Broken Arrow Trailer

Extras: My poster that I created and my blog address

Many of my ideas for my website came from looking at other websites, mainly movie websites. I liked a lot of there ideas, set-up (layer out of the website), colours and what they had on the website itself.

I decided that the main colours I would use on my website would be black, red, white and blue. Broken Arrow is a movie that takes place in an air force base and their mission is to protect America hence the reason I decided to use the American flag colours (blue, red and white). The reason I chose to have black as a background was because I believe it best suited the movie as well as the photos I used on my website. As mentioned before, this movie is set in the air force so for the font I decided to use PortagoITC TT. This was a really good font because it looked like something you would see in the air force.

A major problem that I faced in this unit of work was the fact that I had a limited time limit and I had never used iWeb before. This meant I needed to work harder then I had in other projects and use some of my own time to finish this project. I’m glad that I did this because it helped me become better at using iWeb and I was able to get my project done on time.

Overall I am very happy with both my website and my poster. I have spent quite a lot of time working on both of these projects and I hope that all my hard work pays off.

Part A

Part A:
Twilight Official Website
Twilight is about a girl called Bella who falls in love with a vampire. A forbidden relationship forms, which attracts million of viewers worldwide. The Twilight website is set-up quite well. Since the movie is about vampires, the background image has dull, dark and the background image also has trees.

On the Twilight website the links available are home, about the film, trailer, gallery, downloads, music, books and official store.

The Home Page is quite good as it advertise the name of the film as well other highlights and a seprate link to the downloads section. We people first enter the Twilight website, they visit this page and to me it draws the attention of the view. This is because the website has a picture of Edward and Jacob meaning girls who are fans of either character will visit more of the website wanting to see more of that character or more about the film. This is where the link, about the film comes into play.

About the Film: It has a short paragraph on what the film is about, a list of who the cast and crew are. This part of the website also has the same background as the home page.

Trailer/Video: This area has every single trailer released for the Twilight movie and it has the same background as the home page.
Gallery: The gallery has the same background as the home page and it has a bunch of photos available to view and download.

Downloads: In this area people are able to download posters, wallpapers, Twilight e-cards, IM icons and widgets.

Music: Links off to another site.

Books: Links off to another site.

Official Store: Links off to another site.

Overall, the Twilight website has been set out in a very good way and the website has used the appropriate colours. It has a dull, dark simple background and the font is a fancy handwriting almost. This all adds to popular of the site as it really suits the movie. I am quite please with how they have presented this website and I think that the website will continue to get better as the movies become more popular.

Wild Hogs Official Website
Wild Hogs is a hilarious comedy film about four guys going on a road trip.

Home: On the home page, it shows people the DVD cover, the link to watch the trailer, competitions and advertise other movies as well.

About the DVD: It shows a picture from a part in the film and a paragraph on what the film is about. When you click on the link, a piece of audio plays from the film.

Video: In the video area, it has four different videos. The first video is the trailer, the second is clips/sections from the movie, the third is bonus clips and the last is bloopers. Each video has a different background (the background is a clip from the movie).

Gallery: The gallery has several pictures from the film as well as posters. When you click on the link, a piece of audio plays from the film.

Downloads: In the downloads part, you can choose between three links, wallpapers, buddy icons and screensavers. When you click on the link, a piece of audio plays from the film.

Games: I love this section! This area is games based on the movies. There are five games to play and each one of them are heaps of fun to play! When you click on the link, a piece of audio plays from the film.

Order now: Links to another site

Overall, the Wild Hogs website is a very good website. It portrays the movie really well and it is aimed at a large age group since a wide range of ages watched the movie. It has several different backgrounds but at the top of the website it has the four characters and that remain on each area of the website.

The Dark Knight Official Website
The Dark Knight is one of the most popular movies of all time. It is an action thriller and has lots of things blowing up.

About the DVD: It has a section on what the movie is about, the special features on blu-ray and special edition features. The background for this page is three cards, mainly the joker card.

Cast and Crew: It has a list of the main character and the production crew. The background is a building with the batman symbol on fire.

Video: Has the official trailer and the background is Batman himself.

Gallery: Has images from the movie and the background is that of that joker.

Extras: In the extras section, you can download, buy and see the sponsors for the movie.

Overall, the Dark Knight Website is very well done. It has dull colours (black, gray and dark blue) and very good images for the background. Each one of the images ties into the movie somehow and the website it aimed at young teenagers and most adults.
